Fun Facts About Spinosaurus!
The River Giant
Unlike many other famous dinosaurs, Spinosaurus was a “river giant.” It spent most of its time in or near water, using its cone-shaped teeth to hunt massive fish, much like a modern crocodile!
A Spectacular Sail
That amazing sail on its back wasn’t just for show! Scientists think this impressive feature, which was made of long spines covered in skin, might have been used to soak up the sun or to make it look even bigger to other dinosaurs.
Longer Than the King
While T-Rex is famous for its power, Spinosaurus was one of the longest meat-eating dinosaurs ever discovered. From its long snout to its paddle-like tail, it could grow even longer than a T-Rex!
Coloring Tips for Your Spinosaurus Masterpiece
- The Sail’s Sunset: That giant sail is a canvas! Instead of one color, why not paint a sunset on it? Try blending fiery reds and bright oranges at the top, fading into deep blues or purples near the body to make it stand out.
- Rippling River Effects: Spinosaurus loved the water. As you color the river around it, use wavy lines of dark blue and light blue. You can even leave a little white space near its legs or tail to create the look of a “splash!”
- Crocodile Camouflage: Its long snout was like a crocodile’s. Try using a mix of olive greens and sandy browns for its skin, then use a slightly darker green marker to add spots or stripes for perfect river camouflage.
