Their master, Splinter, named them after his favorite Renaissance artists: Leonardo (da Vinci), Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
Pizza Is Their Power Food
The Turtles’ absolute favorite food is pizza! They are famous for loving all kinds of wild toppings, from pepperoni to jelly beans.
It All Started with Ooze
These aren’t ordinary turtles! They (and Splinter) transformed into ninjas after being exposed to a mysterious green liquid called “mutagen” or “ooze.”
Coloring Tips for Your Ninja Turtle Masterpiece
- The Bandanas: Make their masks the most important part! Use a single, bold color for each Turtle (blue, purple, orange, or red). To make it look like real fabric, try using a slightly darker marker on the edges where the knot is tied.
- Shell Textures: A turtle shell has amazing patterns. Don’t just color it solid green. Start with a base of dark green, then use a light green or yellow crayon to carefully draw the “scute” (the plate-like shapes) on their backs and fronts.
